AEVERSU is the Spanish Association of Waste-to-Energy Plants, with over 25 years of experience. We represent 13 plants, 12 in Spain and one in Andorra, all dedicated to transforming non-recyclable municipal waste into energy.

  • In Spain, the waste management model is still dominated by landfilling, with 50% of waste being landfilled, 11% going to energy recovery, and 35% to recycling. This approach is unsustainable and must come to an end in order to meet the European 2035 goals: 65% recycling, 10% landfilling, and the remainder in energy recovery. AEVERSU is actively working to lead this debate and promote viable and sustainable alternatives.

  • Since 2019, we have increased our public presence through meetings with ministries, press publications, and active participation in national forums. In 2024, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a public event that marked a turning point in our communication with society. This growing interest in energy recovery has been reflected in recent months, with increased commitment from public administrations and state-owned companies.

Interest has been growing and intensifying over the past 9 months. There is increasing interest from various public bodies (provincial councils, regional governments, and public companies) in developing waste-to-energy projects. We believe it is necessary to lead the message and act as a voice for this movement. Therefore, we want to organize a global event on WTE (Waste-to-Energy). It will serve as an important platform for technical discussion and debate, bringing together key actors from the sector, administrations, companies, and technologists.

We are taking the next step by organizing the First Aeversu Summit, scheduled for the first half of May 2025. This event will be a technical space for discussion and debate, gathering administrations, companies, and key technologists from the sector. We are backed by our internal team and the Evercom agency, known for its expertise in organizing such events.
